The Therapeutic Yoga Training and Acupuncturists
Acupuncture and Therapeutic Yoga are highly complementary - both focus on bringing the body back into balance. The training attracts acupuncturists who are looking for additional tools to use in conjunction with Traditional Chinese Medicine, both at the office, and as a tool for patients to practice at home or while traveling. For instance, it is popular among our acupuncture graduates to utilize the supportive restorative yoga poses taught in the training to enhance the benefits of an acupuncture session - the patient is guided into a pose, then acupuncture and/or moxibustion is applied.
Arturo Peal, co-founder of the training, received his acupuncture license in 1994 and is also a doctor of Chinese Medicine (and has been a featured instructor at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine). As such, he is acutely attuned to the needs of the practicing acupuncturist. For instance, the manual for the course contains information on each of the poses covered in the training, and this information includes which acupuncture meridians are stimulated in a given pose.
